underground railroad
The underground railroad helped many slaves to freedom. it was a long dangerous journey for both the slaves and the person that was helping them, leading them to freedom. IF one was caught helping a slave cross over to hte free states one would be persicuted, hung. If a slave was caught trying to escape ad make there way to the free states there fate would be up to hte master tehy would be either hung, or whipped servierly due to disobediance of the owner.

Slave Codes
The slave code defined the social, economic, and physical place of slaves in North Carolina. Alot of thing the whites were aloud to do the blacks could not or lost the priveledge to do so. slaves were no aloud the pursuit of happiness that was promised in the Declaration of Independence because as slaves they were not allowed to have good things happen to them. Slaves lacked the freedom movement and couldn't go where they pleased unlees given permission by their master. When slaves had free time they could go to churh, go to muster day or militia day, or even court week but they couldn't do do so if the master did not give them permission.
